Dri MIA AGAIN?!?!
Hello, my dear friends!
I know that I have been missing in action for a little while now, but it is for a good reason. I am in the process of creating my own self-hosted blog for Simplymedri. I am running behind schedule because I really don’t know what I am doing. But have no fear, I will be back in action hopefully sometime in the next few weeks, definitely before January ends.
What is going to happen to this blog?
After struggling to transfer over all of this blog’s content to the new site, I finally gave up and decided to just give myself a fresh start. This blog will remain up in case you would like to read any of the older content. I do hope that you have been enjoying the content that I provide because I will continue to produce more of the same once I get things up and running. By the way, I do intend to be more personal and transparent on some things, so definitely stay tuned for that.
Thank you for your support thus far. I do hope that you will subscribe to my “continued blog” once it is published.
See you very soon!
If you have been following my blog then you know that I haven’t been the most consistent when it comes to posting content. Now that my daughter is older and more independent, I truly want to make more time for my blog. Along time ago, I came across Bloglovin’ but I didn’t have the time to devote to it. Well lately, I have been spending time on the site trying to learn my way around. It has been a couple of days and I must say Bloglovin’ is a gem for many reasons but let me just share a few.
There are Three big things that I really like about Bloglovin’.
Firstly, I love that I can find so many different blogs in one place. Having so many blogs at my fingertips saves me so much time.
Secondly, I like that I can connect with other bloggers. I am discovering that being a blogger is so much more enjoyable when you create relationships with other like-minded people.
Thirdly, I am still a mom so I don’t always have time to sit and read as much as I may like to. It comes in handy to be able to “save” post for a later read. Not only that but you can also “love” and “share” post that you find beneficial. Oh, and did I mention that you can pin them on Pinterest?! Ah! Pinterest is amazing as well, but that is another post for another day.
If you enjoy reading other blogs and would like to save time, then Bloglovin’ is for you! If you like connecting with other bloggers and would like to possibly make friendships, then Bloglovin’ is for you! If you are a busy person who likes to read and you could benefit from saving a post for a later read, then Bloglovin’ is for you! If you like to share your favorite reads with other’s and love to express appreciate for other beneficial and/or influential post, then Bloglovin’ is for you!
**This is not a sponsored post. I have just rediscovered Bloglovin’ and because I have found it so helpful in rekindling my desire for blogging I just had to share it with you all. I believe that all bloggers will find it to be useful.**
Follow my blog with Bloglovin
Looking forward to connecting with you!
I am not sure if you have noticed the change in my domain name (from simplymedri.com back to simplymedri.wordpress.com).
Don’t worry you guys and gals, I am not going anywhere. Yes, I am still serious about this blogging venture. You see, my goal one day is to have a self-hosted site; and as you know that cost money. Instead of paying money to have a unique domain name and for domain mapping I decided that I would save up and get what I really wanted. This may take me a while to accomplish but I will still be blogging in the meantime.
YOUR POINT, Dri?
They say that you aren’t serious if you don’t invest at least in a domain name. That is not the case for me at the time. As a mom, I am more than ever serious about saving money and it would not make sense to pay for the domain mapping to wordpress.com and then pay whatever to wordpress.org.
I am not going anywhere. You can still find me here at simplymedri.wordpress.com
If you are returning to my blog then welcome back. If this is your first time here then welcome and feel free to look around. But, before you leave let me tell you a bit about me and my blog.
I began this blog in 2013 after the birth of my daughter. I was secretly dealing with postpartum depression and I was in need of an outlet. Somehow, I came across the idea of blogging. It was a perfect idea because I love to talk. At that time, I was still on maternity leave from work and I wasn’t sure if I was going to go back.
My name is Quadriyyah but you can call me Dri. I am a Christian but I am not too holy to where you can’t relate. I understand what it’s like to go through tough circumstances, I know the feeling of loneliness, simply, I struggle just like you do. This blog is a ministry to me.
I live out loud here.
This is the one place where I don’t have to pretend to have it all together. It is like a public diary for anyone who wants to see. I share my fears, joyful moments, lessons learned, and more. If I think it and feel like it may help someone then I post it.
I hope that you find comfort and relatability here. I am just a simple gal figuring out this thing called life. Or better stated: I am Dri, this is where I am simply me, and I blog as my life happens.
As a mother, or a parent in general, it’s easy to find oneself constantly running around. In doing so, I often find myself running low on energy, low on patience, low on sleep, basically low on everything. At times when my daughter is sleeping, I have to decide between washing dishes or taking a shower, doing my hair or folding the ever growing pile of clothes, tidying up or getting a nap.
Sometimes, Crumbled cookies and a Mess are more than enough!
When my daughter was first born, I felt overwhelmingly ungrateful if I were to think anything beyond “what a wonderful gift”. The truth of the matter is that there are times when I do feel overwhelmed. There are times when I want a break for myself and you know what THAT IS OKAY!.
Are you like me?
Do you know how I feel?
For those who do not know the feeling please don’t misunderstand me. I don’t regret having my daughter. Yes, she is a blessing and I would never trade her for anything, but sometimes I do find myself needing that moment to stop and catch my breathe. .
I say all of this in order to be transparent and hopefully encourage other parents out there who maybe struggling with the same feelings. I want you to know that it is okay to want a time out. It doesn’t make you a bad parent, it doesn’t make you ungrateful, it just makes you human.
**With that being said, I don’t just leave my daughter alone when I feel these feelings.Sometimes, all I can do is just close my eyes for a brief moment and say a prayer.**
It really does help to know that God can hear me over my daughter’s screaming. 🙂
Thanks for reading and God bless!
I am a little late with this post but I figure that it’s better late than never. I have reached the one year mark in my blogging journey! I want to reflect on the year and let you know what to expect for this upcoming blogging year. Thank you all for the likes, comments, and all of the support.
**The video’s quality is not anything spectacular and because of that I kept putting it off. (If I continue to do so, this post will never go up.) I plan on getting better at editing my videos as time goes on. See you soon in the next post.**
